Roofing Leads Pay Per Lead: Which Provider Fits?
Free Agentic Browsing Audit

Can an AI agent actually use your website?

AI agents are starting to visit sites on a customer's behalf — comparing companies and requesting quotes. We run the same agentic browsing checks Google built into Chrome and show you what an agent hits when it lands on your site. No email to run it.

By Ryan Goering, founder and CEO of BaaDigi. We sell marketing, not leads, so the alternative at the end is ours; the provider terms are linked to their sources.

Last updated: September 2026.

What makes a roofing lead affordable?

An affordable inquiry leaves room for profit after selling and delivering the work. Start by distinguishing repair, replacement and other project types in your own records. Do not use an average close rate from another contractor as a promise about yours.

Nothing here claims a highest-intent winner or an average cost per roof. The LSA figures further down are real, but they come from four non-roofing accounts we manage.

How do the three providers differ?

ProviderVerified operating detailWhat to check for your roofing business
Google Local Services AdsCharges for valid leads; prices and bidding modes vary.Eligibility, service areas, job types, monthly maximum and actual billed leads.
AngiDocuments annual-subscription and nonannual billing arrangements.Your specific plan, matching services, budget and additional Opportunity charges.
ThumbtackCustomers choose pros; pros control lead pricing and budget.Actual lead price, service fit and current charge/refund terms.

Which option fits your current operation?

ConsiderWhen it is worth evaluatingCheck before funding it
Google Local Services AdsYou offer eligible roofing services and can cover incoming calls or messagesVerification, job types, service area, billing and response ownership
AngiYou want to evaluate the specific roofing lead or Opportunity offer available to your accountAgreement, charge trigger, extra charges, and the work represented
ThumbtackYou want to test its customer-selected lead flow with your account’s pricing and budget controlsService fit, current lead settings, and charge/refund terms
Direct inquiriesYou can invest in service pages, project evidence, search visibility, or your own campaignsFull build, management and media costs, plus a realistic response process

These are decision buckets, not ratings of lead quality. Choose a test you can measure and afford rather than opening every account at once.

What should roofers know about Google LSAs?

The current badge is Google Verified, not Google Screened, and not the Google Guaranteed badge, which Google replaced in October 2025. Do not mistake verification for a guaranteed sale or proof that the homeowner will not contact another roofer.

Google assesses lead quality and may issue automated credits. Wrong-service and out-of-area categories are excluded from credits under the published policy. Review your settings and actual lead feedback before increasing the budget. For related setup details, see our current Google Verified contractor guide.

What LSA actually costs on accounts we manage: across four BaaDigi client accounts (Jun–Sep 2026), $32,835.46 of spend produced 900 leads; Google billed 716 of them (79.6%), which works out to $45.86 per charged lead or $36.48 per lead including disputed and credited ones. 627 leads (69.7%) were phone calls and 75.6% of those calls ran at least 30 seconds. None of the four is a roofing account (electrical, painting, paving, pools), so use the figures to sanity-check a roofing quote, not as a roofing benchmark.

What should roofers know about Angi?

Angi’s Leads and Opportunities documentation describes homeowner-selected leads and different Opportunity flows. Some require mutual interest before a charge. Confirm the distribution terms for your product.

Ask for the specific roofing categories, territory, agreement and credit rules in your proposal. Do not infer a minimum lead volume, a shared recipient count or a lower price from the Angi brand.

What should roofers know about Thumbtack?

Use the account prices and current Thumbtack terms when assessing charges. Compare your actual charges and sales outcomes. Evaluate each provider under its own terms.

Before funding a test, define the services you want, who handles new inquiries and how you will record the result. If you cannot identify which jobs came from the account, fix tracking before drawing a verdict.

How do you work out what a signed roof actually cost?

Take the lead charges, subtract credits, then divide by the signed jobs those leads produced. Fold in subscriptions, ad spend, agency fees and the hours your office spent on the phone when you compare providers side by side. Hold the reporting window constant and give open estimates time to close before you call a source a loser.

Do not shortcut it by multiplying lead price by a close rate you borrowed from someone else. If every lead costs the same, price divided by your own signed share gets you there. If nothing has closed yet, write down the spend and zero wins; a zero acquisition cost is a lie.

TrackWrite down

VerdictKeep, adjust or stop, measured against your own margin target.

What should a roofing lead quote specify?

  • The work: repairs, replacements, material types, residential or commercial, and the territory covered.
  • The event you buy: contact details, an answered call, a qualified appointment, or an agreed sale outcome.
  • The timing: when the homeowner requested help and when you receive the inquiry.
  • The distribution: who else can receive it and what any exclusivity promise actually covers.
  • The charges: lead fees, subscriptions, minimums, extras, credits, renewal and cancellation terms.

For an aged lead, record the original inquiry date and what was last confirmed about the project. Do not assume the roof still needs work or the homeowner is still requesting estimates. For pay-per-close terms, define the event that triggers payment and how cancellations or collections are handled in the agreement.

A lead for a metal replacement is not interchangeable with a shingle repair request. Keep those results separate even when they arrive from the same provider.

What does exclusive actually mean?

Ask the provider to define exclusivity in writing: the recipient, the period covered and whether later resale is allowed. An exclusive delivery rule does not prevent the homeowner from asking other roofers for quotes. It also does not establish a higher close rate.

Read our shared versus exclusive contractor leads comparison before comparing prices. Use the same definition and sales stage for every source. The roofing leads guide covers every channel in one place, and the HomeAdvisor alternatives comparison covers the marketplaces this article skips.

What is the alternative to buying every introduction?

Develop ways for homeowners to reach your business directly: accurate service pages, project evidence, clear contact options and customer referrals. Google Business Profile is available at no charge to eligible businesses, but creating content, advertising and following up still cost time or money.

Our recommendation is to build those channels while keeping any paid source that is profitable. We do not call this $0-per-lead marketing or promise that SEO always beats marketplaces after a fixed number of months. See website design for roofing companies for the site side of that work.

How do you run a useful roofing lead test?

Set a loss limit you can afford. Record every charge, credit and outcome. Review whether the requested work fits your crew and margins. Allow open estimates time to resolve, then compare cost per signed job and collected profit.

Increase spend when the evidence supports it. Pause or adjust when the service fit, delivery terms or economics are wrong. Do not cancel a profitable source solely because another platform or agency says its leads are better.

What is BaaDigi’s role in the comparison?

BaaDigi sells marketing services rather than leads. The Stability Engine is $497 per month plus $995 one-time setup, covering website, profile, content, dashboard, LSA and Google Ads management for up to $1,600 per month of ad spend paid to Google; compare that package price with the fees and hours a marketplace account actually costs you.

For campaign setup, use our roofing PPC guide; for a deeper Thumbtack test, use the Thumbtack profitability checklist. Neither route removes the need to answer inquiries and sell the work.

If you would rather build your own inquiry sources, look at the scope of local SEO support and a custom contractor website first, and decide what access and reporting you need before you sign anything.

How can you compare a wider provider shortlist?

The roofing lead-company evaluation guide expands the purchasing checklist. Apply the same service, territory, distribution and outcome definitions to every offer before deciding which deserves a test.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fair price for a roofing lead?▼

Work backward from margin: what a signed roof leaves after crew and materials, what share of leads you actually close, and what you can afford to spend to win one. Then get the real quote for your service and ZIPs. As a reference point, across 900 Local Services Ads leads on four BaaDigi client accounts (Jun–Sep 2026), Google billed 716 and the blended cost was $45.86 per charged lead; none of those accounts is a roofer, so it tells you the order of magnitude, not your price. Compare the billable event, distribution and credit terms alongside the number, over the same inquiry window for every source.

Does an exclusive roofing lead guarantee a sale?▼

No. Exclusive means the provider sent it only to you. The homeowner can still call three other roofers, and nothing stops them. Measure close rate, not the label.

How should I compare aged roofing leads with new inquiries?▼

Record the original request date, the last confirmed project status, the scope and the delivery terms. Assume nothing about whether the roof still needs work. Report aged and fresh results separately so age does not hide poor fit, and confirm what contact the product permits before you call.

How are pay-per-lead and pay-per-close different?▼

They charge on different events, and the contract has to define both. Spell out what counts as a lead or a closed sale, what fees apply and how cancellations and unpaid invoices are handled. Never compare headline prices without those definitions, and add your own intake and management time.

Is building direct roofing inquiries free?▼

No. Website work, ads, management and follow-up cost money or staff time. BaaDigi's Stability Engine is $497 per month plus $995 setup, with ad spend separate. Compare full costs and customer outcomes; owning a website does not mean owning rankings or demand.
