What Should Restaurant Marketing Fix First?
Free Agentic Browsing Audit

Can an AI agent actually use your website?

AI agents are starting to visit sites on a customer's behalf — comparing companies and requesting quotes. We run the same agentic browsing checks Google built into Chrome and show you what an agent hits when it lands on your site. No email to run it.

By Ryan Goering, founder and CEO of BaaDigi. We sell the Restaurant Edition of the Predictable Work Engine, so read the channel table as our recommendation, not a neutral survey; the profile figures are aggregates from our own client accounts.

Last updated: September 2026.

Which restaurant details need one reliable source?

Maintain an approved set of hours, menus, prices, booking links and contact details, with a named person responsible for updates. Compare those facts across your website, Google Business Profile and the third-party listings your guests use. A kitchen change should trigger a menu update wherever you publish that menu.

Google's business representation guidance says restaurants should use dine-in hours when available. If dine-in is unavailable, its fallback order is takeout, then drive-through, then delivery hours. Handle differing service periods clearly: dinner, brunch, takeout and special events may not follow the same schedule. Do not advertise a dish, service or seating option the team cannot currently provide.

How should you publish your menu?

Give guests a readable menu page containing actual dish names, descriptions and current prices. Keep a downloadable PDF if it serves your guests, but also provide text that people can read, search and use on a phone. The recommendation is about access and maintenance; it is not a claim that search engines cannot read any PDF.

Google's Business Profile menu editor supports menu items and sections. Check those entries against the approved menu, rather than assuming an old upload stays accurate. If you publish dietary descriptions, have the restaurant verify them and provide a way for guests to ask staff about their requirements.

The restaurant menu readability check can help inspect your page. It does not certify allergy information or guarantee that an AI assistant will quote the menu.

Which channels fit the occasion you want to fill?

Choose the channel after defining the occasion, audience and available capacity. The following is a planning framework, not a ranking of national returns.

NeedUseful work to testWhat to measure
Nearby diners deciding where to eatAccurate profile, cuisine information, menu and location pageRelevant search visits and attributable reservations or calls
Weekday availabilityA specific event or menu message with a working booking pathCompleted reservations and seated covers for the intended shift
Private dining or cateringA page explaining actual capacity, format and inquiry processQualified inquiries, proposals and confirmed events
Guests considering a returnRelevant updates for guests who agreed to receive themRecorded return visits or offer redemptions where measurable
A new dish or dining experienceAccurate photos and descriptions linked to the menuMenu interest and the associated orders, with attribution limits stated

For search work, our restaurant SEO service focuses on visibility and the information diners need. Google's local ranking guidance describes relevance, distance and prominence; it does not promise a position because a restaurant publishes more posts.

Is your own website costing you leads?

How do you check the reservation and ordering path?

Open every published booking and ordering link on a phone. Confirm the venue, date, party-size controls and final confirmation. For a group, verify that each location opens its own correct page. Test special events separately if they use another booking system.

Google supports local business links for actions such as menus and reservations. Review which links appear on your profile and whether they still work. A direct link to your booking provider may be perfectly appropriate; direct website traffic does not automatically mean fee-free reservations.

Compare reservation platforms using their current contract, subscription charges, cover fees and guest-data access. Keep a platform that serves your operation well. Changing providers is not a prerequisite for improving your own menu and booking pages.

What should reviews and social posts accomplish?

Use reviews to understand the guest experience and social posts to show what a visit is actually like. Ask for honest feedback without screening guests by expected rating. Google's review guidance prohibits offering incentives for reviews. Keep replies specific and avoid exposing private guest information.

Post real dishes, the room, the team and events with accurate dates and availability. Link the reader to the relevant menu or booking page. A smaller schedule your team can maintain is a sensible starting point; there is no verified universal posting frequency that fills tables.

How should you approach AI restaurant recommendations?

Keep your public business facts accurate and your pages understandable, then inspect a repeatable sample of relevant questions. Record the assistant, question, date and any cited sources. Separate a mention of your restaurant from a link to your website and from an attributable reservation.

Correct information at its source when possible. Do not promise that menu markup, a particular review count or allowing a crawler guarantees a recommendation. Our local SEO guide for restaurants covers the related search work, while your actual referral and reservation records show whether visibility reaches the booking process.

How much should a restaurant spend?

Build the budget around an identified gap and what you can afford to test. Include staff time, creative, website work, software, advertising and any booking charges. Judge the result using contribution after the costs you include, not gross sales alone. Set a review date and a spending limit before launch.

BaaDigi's Restaurant Edition prices by engine level; the Stability level costs $497 per month plus $995 setup, with ad spend separate. Confirm venue count, scope, advertising and reporting in the proposal before approving a restaurant budget.

Who should own updates between campaigns?

Assign one person to approve the source menu, hours, prices and booking destinations. Keep a short change record showing what changed, where it was updated and who checked it. For multiple venues, identify the affected location rather than copying one set of hours across every profile.

Connect the guest email plan to current availability and use the restaurant sales framework to evaluate actual service outcomes. A campaign should use the restaurant’s current operating facts, not force the staff to honor an outdated offer.

What should you measure each month?

Keep visibility, booking activity and dining outcomes separate. Search clicks show visits. Reservation starts show intent. Completed bookings, seated covers, cancellations, orders and event inquiries describe later stages. Use reservation or point-of-sale records where available, and label anything your tracking cannot connect.

The Predictable Work Dashboard is BaaDigi's transparency point; agree on the connected data sources and report definitions. A direction request should not be relabeled as a cover. Compare similar service periods and account for closures, holidays, menu changes and capacity before attributing a difference to a campaign.

Set expectations with the median, not the total. Across those 39 profiles the median got 1.3 calls and 50 impressions a month, and the median rate was 18.4 calls per 1,000 impressions; a handful of large profiles produce most of the totals. Measure your own venue against its own baseline.

Menu, hours and booking link all correct, and still no lift?

We will audit the profile and booking path first, then pick one shift to fill and measure it properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a restaurant need to remove its PDF menu?▼

No. Keep the PDF if guests use it and add a readable HTML menu with current dishes and prices. Converting a file does not by itself improve rankings.

Should I stop using my reservation platform?▼

Only after comparing its operational value, real fees and the alternatives. A platform can manage availability even when the guest starts on your site. Check subscriptions, cover fees, data access and migration risk; better direct links do not erase platform charges.

What should a restaurant advertise during a quiet period?▼

Start with the shift or occasion you can serve profitably, build one specific message from the real menu and booking process, and cap the test spend. Track that service period, not total monthly sales, and note closures, weather and holidays before crediting the ad.

How do I measure restaurant marketing without perfect tracking?▼

Use the records you have and name the gaps out loud. Separate website and profile activity from confirmed reservations, arrivals, orders and event inquiries, and ask your booking and point-of-sale providers what source data they keep. Compare like periods and never assign untracked walk-ins to a campaign. For a sense of scale, across 39 client Google Business Profiles BaaDigi tracks (Sep 2025–Aug 2026), profiles logged 10,233 calls and 30,599 direction requests, but not one of those numbers is a seated cover. A partial measurement with stated limits beats a precise-looking invented return every time.
