Which Lead Platforms Are Worth It for Roofers?
Roofers get pitched Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Networx, Modernize, Houzz Pro and Google Local Services Ads, and almost none of them publishes a roofing price. This page puts the billing model, the published price (or the lack of one), lead sharing and contract terms side by side, using each platform's own help pages and contracts checked on October 27, 2026, plus a published roofing benchmark of $228.15 per lead on Google search ads. Where a platform publishes nothing, the row says so and any figure comes labelled as a third-party or owner report.

The Short Answer
Quick answer: Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack, Networx and Modernize sell leads that are shared with other contractors by default, and none publishes a roofing price we could confirm. For scale, LocaliQ's 2025 benchmark puts Google search ads for roofing and gutters at $228.15 per lead. Angi bills per lead or on a prepaid subscription that auto-renews, with the termination fee set in your signed contract. HomeAdvisor now runs inside Angi, so judge them together. Thumbtack charges per lead, with the pro setting the price, no contract and no published rate card. Networx lists $10 to $100+ per shared lead across all categories, with no contract. Modernize is quote-only. CraftJack closed in 2024. Houzz Pro is software plus optional advertising: Design $99, Pro $199, Teams from $399 a month, with advertising from $499 a month, on a 12-month term. Google Local Services Ads charge per valid lead with no contract, and third-party roofing averages run from $65.80 to $162. No platform we checked publishes a roofing close rate.
Quick Answers
Is Angi worth it for roofing companies?
Angi is worth it for a roofing company only if you can price a lead before you commit, and Angi does not publish that price. Its help center says lead fees vary by task, location and demand. Owners report about $300 per roofing lead (Zentora Marketing, October 2026), and a software roundup lists $15 to $85+ per lead plus $300 to $2,500 a month (MyQuoteIQ, June 2026); neither is an Angi quote. Each request goes to no more than five pros, subscriptions auto-renew, and the termination fee sits in your signed contract, so get it in writing first.
Is HomeAdvisor worth it for roofing companies?
HomeAdvisor is no longer a separate choice: it operates within Angi (Angi for Pros), so the roofing answer is the Angi answer plus a regulatory record. It publishes no lead prices; a rep reviews them when you call to join. Pros pay per lead or on a subscription, the monthly budget can be exceeded, and lead credits must be requested within 30 days. In 2023 the FTC ordered HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million over deceptive marketing of its leads. Owners report about $300 per roofing lead (Zentora, October 2026), which is not a HomeAdvisor quote.
Is Thumbtack worth it for roofing companies?
Thumbtack is a pay-per-contact option for testing demand: it has no joining fee, contract or subscription, and the pro sets an exact price per lead plus a weekly budget. It publishes no rate card. A third-party sample (Tack Tools Pro, 2026) puts the median roof installation or replacement lead at $300 (25 leads) and roof repair or maintenance at $71.73 (50 leads), what pros chose to pay. A customer can contact up to five pros in the first four hours, and a Fair Shot refund applies only if the customer replies to no pro within 72 hours, the pro responded through Thumbtack within four business hours, and the pro did not share personal contact details before the customer replied. A customer call counts as a reply even if the pro does not pick up.
What is the average cost per lead for roofing companies?
LocaliQ's 2025 benchmark puts Google search ads for roofing and gutters at $228.15 per lead and a 3.70% conversion rate, against $90.92 for home services overall. Google Local Services Ads vary by source: 99 Calls reports an average of $122.29 and a median of $113.79 on charged leads from 12 roofing sites (October 2026), while other reports run from $65.80 (99 Calls, Q1 2026) to $162 (Media Captain, 2025). Angi's roofing figure is about $300 by owner report. No platform publishes a roofing rate card, so read each as a range, not a quote.
Side-by-Side Comparison
| Platform | Billing model | Published price | Shared? | Contract / cancellation | Verdict for roofing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Angi (Angi Leads) | Pay per lead, billed weekly, or a prepaid subscription that auto-renews | Not published; fees vary by task, location and demand. Reported for roofing: about $300 per lead (owner reports, Zentora, Oct 2026); $15–$85+ per lead plus $300–$2,500/mo (MyQuoteIQ, Jun 2026) | Yes, no more than 5 pros per request; the homeowner picks from a list | Subscription term is set in your signed contract and renews automatically; fee can rise up to 10% at renewal; termination fee set in the contract, amount not public; no refund on termination | Price per lead is unknown until you are inside an account; get the termination fee in writing before any subscription |
| HomeAdvisor (now Angi for Pros) | Pay per lead, a subscription or a bundle of leads, under the Angi Pro Agreement; monthly spend target is a goal, not a cap | Not published; a rep reviews current lead prices when you call to join. Third-party roofing reports: about $300 per lead (owner reports, Zentora, Oct 2026) and $40–$100+ (workzen.io, Apr 2026, no method stated) | Yes, no more than 5 pros per request; the number depends on lead type and location (Angi help center) | Subscription term is set in your signed contract; Instant Booking and Job Opportunity leads are charged outside the spend target, so the budget can be exceeded; lead credits must be requested within 30 days and are issued as store credit | HomeAdvisor operates within Angi; verify the billing model and signed terms of the specific offer. FTC order in 2023 for up to $7.2M over deceptive lead marketing |
| Thumbtack | Pay per lead: you set an exact price per service and a weekly budget; no subscription | Not published; no rate card. Third-party roofing medians (Tack Tools Pro, Mar–Sep 2026): roof installation or replacement $300 (25 leads), roof repair or maintenance $71.73 (50 leads); what pros chose to pay | Yes: a customer can contact up to 5 pros from search results in the first 4 hours, and more after that (terms updated Sep 28, 2026) | No contract or monthly minimum; automatic Fair Shot refund only if the customer replies to no pro within 72 hours, you responded through Thumbtack within four business hours, and you shared no personal contact details first (a customer call counts as a reply; terms updated Sep 28, 2026); other refund requests within 45 days, at Thumbtack's discretion | A pay-per-contact option for testing demand; set the price and weekly budget yourself and count replies for a month before judging |
| Networx | Pre-pay budget, or post-pay with an activation fee and a weekly limit; shared Pay Per Lead or an exclusive plan | Help center: $10–$100+ per shared lead, $15–$120+ per exclusive lead, all categories; roofing price not published; help articles dated 2022–2023 | Shared plan: up to 4 contractors; exclusive plan: one contractor | No contract; a prepaid budget auto-renews when the balance is one lead's value or less and your billing date comes up; pause 1–28 days; credit requests within 14 days; refund of unused balance not documented | No contract, but ask in writing what happens to an unused prepaid balance before funding it |
| CraftJack (Closed 2024, redirects to Angi) | None: product no longer sold | Not published; we could not retrieve a historical vendor rate card | Not applicable | Not applicable; craftjack.com redirects to Angi pro signup (checked Oct 27, 2026) | Closed 2024, redirects to Angi; pages presenting it as currently purchasable are outdated |
| Modernize Home Services | Dynamic per-lead pricing with a ceiling you set; live transfers, inbound calls, leads and exclusive Branded Programs | Not published; the pricing page has no dollar figures. Third-party roofing shared-lead figures disagree: $35–$65, $40–$120, and $50–$100 rising to $150+ (none cite an invoice) | Standard requests: Modernize plus up to 4 companies may contact the homeowner; Branded Programs leads are exclusive | Not published; quote through sales | Roofing is a listed trade; get the ceiling, minimum spend, term and credit policy in writing before comparing it to anything |
| Houzz Pro | Software subscription; advertising is a separate add-on | Published (Houzz blog, Oct 5, 2026): Design $99/mo, Pro $199/mo, Teams from $399/mo; advertising from $499/mo | Not published by Houzz; one third party reports up to 6 pros per Project Match (unverified) | 12-month commitment; renews unless you submit a do-not-renew request at least 30 days before renewal | Built for builders, remodelers and designers; roofing is not among its listed industries, so buy it for the software or skip it |
| Google Local Services Ads | Pay per valid lead (call, message or booking), not per click; legacy LSA weekly budgets (monthly maximum = weekly budget x average weeks a month) become daily budgets once migrated into Google Ads | Not published by Google. Roofing, charged leads: average $122.29, median $113.79 (99 Calls, Oct 2026); other reports $65.80 to $162 | The customer picks your profile, but the same customer can contact other advertisers and each is charged | No contract or minimum term; ads stop at your monthly maximum; billed at a payment threshold or every 30 days | First paid test after your Google Business Profile, if someone can answer the phone: missed calls over 20 seconds during business hours can now be billed |
| BaaDigi (owned pipeline) | Monthly retainer | Published: $297–$3,997/mo (setup fee $700 on the $297 tier, $995 on the $497 tier) | No, your own leads | Month-to-month; you own site, rankings, data | Leads come from your own site and Google profile, tracked on the Predictable Work Dashboard; we publish no roofing cost-per-lead from our own accounts |
Angi (Angi Leads)
Visit sitePricing: Not published; lead fees vary by task, location and demand
Pros
- Pay-per-lead is available without a long-term commitment, and Angi says homeowners now pick which pros contact them (homeowner choice, January 2025)
- The pro agreement is public: renewal increase capped at 10%, cancellation by phone, a lead is charged only once both sides show interest
- Angi reports a 10% lift in self-reported pro win rate after homeowner choice (vendor-reported, unaudited)
Cons
- No rate card; roofing figures come only from owners and roundups ($300 per lead by owner report; $15–$85+ per lead plus a monthly spend in one roundup), and per-lead prices and monthly spend are different units
- The monthly budget is a target, not a hard cap: Angi's own example turns a $500 budget into $520
- Subscription termination fee is set in the signed contract and its amount is not public; no refund of fees on termination
- BBB shows 1,745 complaints in three years and 381 in the last 12 months on the profile where complaints are counted
Best for: Roofers who will test pay-per-lead with a small budget and read the contract first
HomeAdvisor (now Angi Leads)
Visit sitePricing: Not published; third-party roofing reports of about $300 per lead (owner reports) and $40–$100+ (workzen.io, no method)
Pros
- HomeAdvisor operates within Angi; verify the billing model and signed terms of the specific offer
Cons
- FTC order in 2023 to pay up to $7.2 million over deceptive marketing of its leads
- Publishes no lead prices; a rep reviews them when you call to join, and the monthly spend target is a goal, not a cap
- Lead credits must be requested within 30 days of the charge, are issued as store credit, and exclude leads where you did not win the job (HomeAdvisor lead credit guidelines)
Best for: Roofers comparing it with Angi, who should check which billing model and signed terms apply to the specific offer
Thumbtack
Visit sitePricing: Not published; you set the price. Third party: roof installation or replacement median $300, roof repair or maintenance $71.73 (Tack Tools Pro, 2026)
Pros
- Pay per lead with no joining fee, contract or subscription; you set the exact price per service and a weekly budget
- Automatic Fair Shot refund only if the customer replies to no pro within 72 hours, you responded through Thumbtack within four business hours, and you shared no personal contact details first; a customer call counts as a reply even if you miss it (terms updated September 28, 2026)
- thumbtack.com is the second most-cited domain in our tracker roofing answers (243 URL citations)
Cons
- Not exclusive: a customer can contact up to five pros in the first four hours and more after that
- No rate card; the price shows only inside the pro app, and Thumbtack can raise minimum prices
- Fees are final except under the refund policy: no refund when the customer hires someone else, and other refund requests are at Thumbtack's discretion within 45 days
- No roofing price from Thumbtack; one third-party sample puts roof installation or replacement leads at a $300 median (25 leads)
Best for: Roofers who want a pay-per-contact option for testing demand and will count replies for a month
Networx
Visit sitePricing: $10–$100+ per shared lead; $15–$120+ per exclusive lead (all categories)
Pros
- Help center publishes a range: $10–$100+ per shared lead and $15–$120+ per exclusive lead
- No contract; pause for 1–28 days from the dashboard
- An exclusive plan sends the lead to one contractor and attempts a live transfer during business hours
Cons
- Help articles are dated 2022–2023, so the range may be out of date
- Prepaid budget renews automatically when the balance reaches one lead's value or less and your billing date comes up; post-pay accounts pay an activation fee (amount not published) and set a weekly limit
- Refund of unused prepaid balance is not documented;
Best for: Roofers who want a published range and no contract, and will confirm refund terms in writing
CraftJack
Visit sitePricing: Closed 2024, redirects to Angi
Pros
- None to weigh: the product no longer exists as a separate service
Cons
- CraftJack closed in 2024: Angi announced the shutdown on its Q1 2024 earnings call, and craftjack.com now redirects to Angi's pro signup (checked October 27, 2026). Pages presenting it as a currently purchasable service are outdated
- We could not retrieve a historical vendor rate card for CraftJack
Best for: Nobody; evaluate Angi instead
Modernize Home Services
Visit sitePricing: Not published; quote through sales
Pros
- Roofing is a listed trade, with live transfers, inbound calls and leads
- Branded Programs leads are exclusive, and Modernize reports a 40% average set rate on them (vendor-reported)
- You set the maximum you will pay per lead
Cons
- No dollar figure anywhere on its pricing page; sales form or phone only
- Standard requests can be contacted by Modernize and up to four companies
- Term, auto-renewal, cancellation and credit policy are not public
- Third-party roofing price figures disagree ($35–$65 to $150+) and none cite an invoice
Best for: Larger roofing companies willing to negotiate a program and get every term in writing
Houzz Pro
Visit sitePricing: $99 / $199 / from $399 per month; advertising from $499 per month
Pros
- Prices are published: Design $99/mo, Pro $199/mo, Teams from $399/mo (Houzz blog, October 5, 2026)
- You can cancel for one month of cost during a 7-day window after the free trial
Cons
- 12-month commitment that renews unless you request non-renewal at least 30 days before, through subscription settings, the cancellation form or your customer success manager
- Advertising from $499/mo is sold separately and its price by trade is not published
- Roofing is not among its listed industries; a third party reports the pricing-page cards differ from the comparison table ($139/$279/$559), which we could not verify
Best for: Roofing-plus-remodeling firms that want estimating and proposal software, not a lead feed
Google Local Services Ads
Visit sitePricing: Per valid lead; not published. Roofing, charged leads: average $122.29, median $113.79 (99 Calls, October 2026)
Pros
- You pay for valid leads, not clicks, with no contract and a monthly maximum you set
- Leads judged low quality are credited automatically, usually within 30 days
- Roofing is among the categories Google lists for the first phase of the move into Google Ads
Cons
- No published price; third-party roofing averages range from $65.80 to $162
- Wrong-service and out-of-area leads are no longer credited
- Since October 2026 a missed call over 20 seconds during business hours, or a voicemail, can be charged
- Manual bidding is being deprecated in the migration and LSA reports do not carry over
Best for: Roofers with a verified Google profile and a phone answered during business hours
How did we evaluate these lead platforms for roofers?
We read each platform's own help center, contract and pricing pages, checked on October 27, 2026, and compared what each publishes against the roofing benchmark we hold. A price appears as a platform price only when the platform published it; otherwise it is labelled as an owner report or third-party figure with its source. HomeAdvisor and Thumbtack were checked against platform pages on October 28, 2026. In our own tracker (ChatGPT and Perplexity, September 1 to October 27, 2026), the 17 roofing questions cited BaaDigi in 150 of 724 answers (20.7%), and the most-cited domains were reddit.com with 385 citations and thumbtack.com with 243.
One limit up front: we have no verified roofing-specific LSA sample. Three accounts' trade labels remain unconfirmed, so none of the lead costs on this page come from our own roofing campaigns.
What does a roofing lead cost on each platform?
No platform here publishes a roofing price list, so treat every number below as a range with a source.
The one roofing anchor with a published methodology is LocaliQ's 2025 home services benchmark: Google search ads for roofing and gutters cost $228.15 per lead with a 3.70% conversion rate, against $90.92 for home services overall.
**Angi.** Its help center says lead fees change with task, homeowner location and demand. Owners report about $300 per roofing lead (Zentora Marketing, October 25, 2026). A software roundup lists $15 to $85+ per lead plus $300 to $2,500 a month of spend (MyQuoteIQ, June 2026). None is an Angi quote. Separately, one BBB reviewer of unspecified trade reports a 12-month Angi advertising contract signed May 6, 2024 at $650 a month, $7,800 for the year; that is a historical advertising-contract report, not a roofing lead price.
**Networx.** The help center lists $10 to $100+ per shared lead and $15 to $120+ per exclusive lead across all categories, on articles dated 2022 to 2023.
**Modernize.** No figure is published. Three third-party roofing estimates for shared leads, $35 to $65, $40 to $120, and $50 to $100 rising to $150+, do not cite an invoice.
**Houzz Pro.** $99, $199 and from $399 a month for software, with advertising from $499 a month, per a Houzz blog dated October 5, 2026.
**Google Local Services Ads.** 99 Calls shows an average of $122.29 and a median of $113.79 per charged roofing lead from 12 roofing sites, with credited leads excluded. Earlier or different samples run from $65.80 (99 Calls, Q1 2026) to $162 (Media Captain, 2025). The spread is the reason to track your own cost.
**Our own LSA data.** Across four accounts from June 11 to October 12, 2026, we paid $45.93 per charged lead ($40,876.82 on 890 charged of 1,110 leads). We have no verified roofing-specific LSA sample, and three of those accounts' trade labels remain unconfirmed, so that figure is not a roofing benchmark. Cost per booked job is cost per lead divided by your own close rate; we do not publish a roofing close rate for shared leads because we have no sourced one.
Which platforms share leads, and what does that do to close rate?
Angi says each request is matched with no more than five pros, and since January 2025 a pro receives a lead only when the homeowner picks that pro from a list. Angi reports that self-reported pro win rate rose 10% after that change; that figure is vendor-reported and unaudited. Networx sends a shared lead to up to four contractors, and its exclusive plan sends it to one. Modernize's consent language allows the company and up to four others to contact the homeowner, while Branded Programs leads are exclusive, with a vendor-reported 40% average set rate. HomeAdvisor falls under the same no-more-than-five cap. On Thumbtack, a customer can contact up to five pros from search results in the first four hours and more after that (terms updated September 28, 2026). On Local Services Ads the customer chooses your profile, but Google prices message leads partly on whether the customer contacted other advertisers, so one homeowner can be charged to several.
Sharing matters because the same homeowner is called by several companies at once. The roofing benchmark we hold measures click-to-lead conversion (3.70%), not lead-to-job, so we do not claim a roofing close rate for any platform.
What do roofing owners complain about on these platforms?
These are complaint counts and refund terms, not measured rates, and none is split out by trade.
**Angi and HomeAdvisor.** BBB lists 1,745 complaints in three years on the Angi profile where complaints are counted, 381 of them in the last 12 months. HomeAdvisor lead credits must be requested within 30 days, are issued as store credit, and exclude leads where you did not win the job.
**Thumbtack.** Fees are final except under the refund policy: no refund when the customer hires someone else, other refund requests within 45 days at Thumbtack's discretion, and no refund when you close the account.
**Google Local Services Ads.** Wrong-service and out-of-area leads are no longer credited, voicemails during business hours count as connected calls, and credits usually apply within 30 days, with the original charge remaining on the invoice.
What should the contract say before a roofer signs?
Ask for these in writing before you fund or sign anything:
1. The term and what renews it. Angi subscriptions renew automatically and the fee can rise up to 10%; Houzz Pro needs a do-not-renew request at least 30 days before renewal. 2. The termination fee, as a number. Angi's public agreement says the fee is set in your contract and does not state it. 3. Refund of unused money. Angi gives no refund of fees on termination; Networx does not document refund of an unused prepaid balance. 4. Credit rules. HomeAdvisor and Angi lead credit guidelines require a request within 30 days and exclude leads where you did not win the job; Networx requires it within 14 days; Thumbtack allows other refund requests within 45 days at its discretion. 5. A hard spending cap. Angi calls the monthly budget a target; Modernize lets you set a ceiling per lead. 6. Who answers the phone to cancel. Angi cancels by phone through Customer Care.
Which lead platform should you choose?
Pick by where you are, not by which platform sounds biggest.
**No verified Google profile or reviews yet: none yet, fix your Google Business Profile and Local Services Ads first.** Google says higher-quality profiles, including those with images, may rank higher and pay less per lead in Local Services Ads.
**Small crew with a thin calendar:** run Local Services Ads with a budget you can afford to lose, answer every call, and, if you want a second source, test one marketplace on pay-per-lead for a month while counting replies and booked jobs.
**A full calendar for the next month:** do not buy volume. Spend the time on reviews and your own site.
**Larger roofing company with a sales team:** ask Modernize and Angi for written terms, then compare cost per booked job against Local Services Ads using your own close rate.
**Roofing plus remodeling or design-build:** Houzz Pro is software first; buy it for estimates and proposals, and treat its advertising as optional.
**You want leads you own:** build your site, rankings and Google profile through a monthly retainer instead of renting a marketplace's audience.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Angi charge roofers per lead?
Angi does not publish a price. Its help center says lead fees change based on task, homeowner location and demand. Owners report about $300 per roofing lead (Zentora Marketing, October 2026), and a software roundup lists $15 to $85+ per lead plus $300 to $2,500 a month (MyQuoteIQ, June 2026). Neither figure is an Angi quote, so ask for the price inside your account before you commit.
Is HomeAdvisor the same as Angi?
Yes. HomeAdvisor operates as Angi Leads inside Angi Inc. In 2023 the FTC ordered HomeAdvisor to pay up to $7.2 million over deceptive marketing of its leads. HomeAdvisor publishes no lead prices; a rep reviews them when you call to join, and its monthly spend target is a goal, not a cap.
Is CraftJack still available?
No. Angi announced the CraftJack shutdown on its first-quarter 2024 earnings call, and craftjack.com now redirects to Angi's pro signup page, as checked on October 27, 2026. CraftJack closed in 2024, so pages presenting it as a currently purchasable service are outdated; we could not retrieve a historical vendor rate card.
Do Google Local Services Ads cost less than Angi for roofers?
We cannot say, because neither publishes a roofing price. Third-party roofing reports for Local Services Ads run from $65.80 to $162 per lead, with 99 Calls showing an average of $122.29 on charged leads, while Angi's roofing figure is about $300 by owner report. Those are different samples, so compare cost per booked job using your own close rate.
Does Houzz Pro send roofing leads?
Houzz Pro is a software subscription at $99, $199 or from $399 a month, on a 12-month commitment. Leads come only through a separate advertising add-on that starts at $499 a month, and Houzz does not list roofing among its industries, which are new construction, remodeling, interior design, architecture and painting.
Can I cancel an Angi subscription early?
You can cancel by calling Angi Customer Care, but if your contract includes an early termination fee you owe it, and Angi gives no refund of fees paid on termination. The fee amount is set in your signed contract and is not published, so read it before signing.
